Kayak killer whale tours and trips - San Juan Islands Washington
"Thanks for the dream of a lifetime, and the memories of all those beautiful killer whales. I've wanted to take this kayak trip for many years, but due to multiple sclerosis, I had put it off. This was the last year that I felt I would have the strength to go. Thanks to the guide's understanding and compassion, it was a very special day." Karen Young, Burien, WA

Why choose Sea Quest to Kayak with Killer Whales on your Vacation?

● Best tour prices to kayak with killer whales in the San Juan Islands or anywhere on the west coast.
● Best routes to kayak with killer whales in the United States.
● Best campsite - private & exclusive - on the kayak  killer whale route.
● Best trained biologist/naturalist guides.
● Best and newest kayaks & gear, all under one year old.

Have you ever thought what it would be like to be in a kayak with killer whales all about? You can safely enjoy this thrill in the San Juan Islands of Washington as this scene is repeated many times each week on our professionally guided killer whales kayak tour.

Sea Quest is the local authority on providing kayak trips that enable you to kayak with killer whales. We've been doing this for twenty years and our founder is an actual biologist with twenty-five years of experience in the protected waterways of the San Juan Islands.

The gorgeous San Juan Islands were selected as our base for more than just their scenic qualities -  we share our home with nearly 100 resident killer whales and an even larger number of transient killer whales. There is no better place on the west coast to see these remarkable marine mammals. Fortunately for us land mammals, the killer whales concentrate their summer activities in just one waterway - and this is where we operate all of our kayak killer whale tours in Washington.  An added bonus is the summer weather which is remarkably dry and sunny thanks to the rainshadow created by the nearby Olympic Mountains. Rainfall is extremely rare in the islands during killer whale watching season and desert plants such as cactus can be found growing near towering trees normally found in rainforests!

Kayak Killer Whale Tours

Join our friendly guides on day trips or camping tours from 2 to 5 days in length. We will kayak along the killer whales primary routes throughout your adventure. Even our Orca Camp is located with stunning views across the killer whale "highway"! This incredible campsite is privately owned and is exclusive to Sea Quest guests, thereby avoiding crowded public campgrounds. Quality and service are the hallmarks of our killer whale kayak program in the San Juans. We promise to make your sea kayak vacation comfortable, memorable, educational, and above, all fun!

Our sea kayak guides possess degrees in the natural sciences, are excellent naturalist educators, and great campfire cooks. They also have the benefit of undergoing the most extreme kayak guide training provided by any outfitter in the killer whale waters of the San Juan Islands. You can be assured they are very well prepared for any unlikely emergency, and have been supplied with the best safety equipment.

Why trek all the way to Canada when you can take a kayak vacation with killer whales right here in the United States? The San Juan Islands feature abundant killer whales, sunnier and warmer weather, lower trip costs, are much closer for cheaper travel options!

San Juan Islands - kayak killer whale watching in Washington near Seattle

Sea Quest Kayak Expeditions is the leading operator of  killer whale kayak tours in the San Juan Islands.  Our company has been operating killer whale kayak vacations for 18 years and our two founders bring a combined 40 years of professional kayak experience to the program. Our home base is located near Friday Harbor on San Juan Island, in the protected Puget Sound waters a short distance north of Seattle, Washington. Friday Harbor is the gateway to the sheltered waterways of the San Juan Islands, an ideal area for beginners to have their first experience to kayak with killer whales.

The San Juan Islands are home to nearly 100 killer whales, also known as orca whales. We offer half-day and full-day killer whale kayak trips to the primary orca whale viewing area off the "Whale Watch Park" (Lime Kiln State Park). This whale-watching park is located on the west side of San Juan Island and is the only location near San Juan Island, Washington where killer whales can be reliably seen on a day tour. Many other outfitters advertise the possibility of seeing killer whales, but unless they spend sufficient time to kayak along the shores of Lime Kiln Park, their chances are severely reduced, sometimes to zero.

We also offer camping kayak vacations of from two, three and five days to the outer San Juan islands. These trips are designed to follow the main feeding and traveling routes of the killer whales, thereby maximizing chances for killer whale watching. Apart from the west side of San Juan Island, there are only a couple of other islands within the archipelago that afford chances for campers to kayak with killer whales, and these will be our destination. Although we may not see killer whales on every single trip, we will do our best to show them to you, and we will take you to the best places possible that conditions allow. Other marine creatures that we see on nearly all San Juan Islands kayak trips are Dall's porpoise, harbor porpoise, harbor seals, river otters, mink, bald eagles, and amazingly colorful tidepool communities.

Our sea kayak guides are biologists and environmental scientists so they will make sure that you see the most and learn as much as your curiosity demands. They are gifted naturalists, teachers, camp cooks, and trip leaders who have dedicated themselves to continually improve their skills. Our sea kayak guides undergo the most rigorous and lengthy training program of any outfitter on San Juan Island. In addition to the experience they bring, our guides must spend two full weeks in our own intensive kayak guide school. Most other outfitters in the San Juan Islands, Washington spend one to three days at most in preparing their guides.

Our web site, www.sea-quest-kayak.com, provides complete information on our killer whale  kayak tours and why you should choose us. Our equipment is state-of-the-art expedition quality and is designed for comfort, speed, and stability. People of practically any age can join our tours, including children as young as five years old. Sea Quest Kayak Expeditions offers family kayak vacations, women-only kayak trips, youth kayak adventures, private custom kayak tours, and an array of dates open for sign up by singles, couples, families and friends. Custom sea kayak trips can be arranged for groups, such as women only, family reunions, friends from work, and more.

Our web site will help you decide which San Juan Islands kayak tour is best for you. Sea-quest-kayak.com is the on-line presence of our company, Sea Quest Kayak Expeditions.
