"The San Juan Islands speak for
themselves. The beauty was glorious... Our encounter with the three pods
of orca whales on the first day was testimony to what we experienced
every day of the kayaking trip! Many thanks to the alertness of our
intrepid guides who positioned us so expertly." Denise Girrier,
Bristol, RI

incredible natural beauty and dry, sun-drenched climate. Why travel to
Canada when you can go kayaking with orca whales in the San Juan Islands
of Washington? The San Juans are home to several resident pods of orcas, are closer than Canada, and offers much better weather, lower

days camping in length. |

Sea
Quest Kayak Expeditions - Sea kayaking trips
to the world's premier whale watching waters.

Sea
Quest Kayak Expeditions is the leading operator of orca whale kayaking tours
in the San Juan Islands.
Our company has been operating orca whale kayaking vacations for 20 years and our
two founders bring a combined 40 years of professional kayaking experience
to the program. Our home base is located near Friday Harbor on San Juan
Island, in the protected Puget Sound waters a short distance north of
Seattle, Washington. Friday
Harbor is the gateway to the sheltered waterways of the San Juan Islands,
an ideal area for beginners to have their first experience kayaking with orca whales.
The San
Juan Islands are home to nearly 100 orcas, also known as
killer whales. We offer half-day and full-day orca whale kayaking trips to the primary orca whale viewing area off the "Whale Watch Park" (Lime Kiln State Park).
This whale-watching park is located on the west side of San Juan Island
and is the only location near San Juan Island, Washington where
orca whales can
be reliably seen on a day tour. Many other outfitters advertise the
possibility of seeing orca whales, but unless they spend sufficient time
kayaking along the shores of
Lime Kiln Park, their chances are severely reduced, usually to zero.
We also
offer camping kayaking vacations of from two, three and five days to the
outer San Juan islands. These trips are designed to follow the main
feeding and traveling routes of the orca whales, thereby maximizing
chances for orca whale watching. Apart from the west side of San Juan
Island, there are only a couple of other islands within the archipelago
that afford chances for campers to go kayaking with orca whales, and these
will be our destination. Although we may not see orca whales on every
single trip, we will do our best to show them to you, and we will take you
to the best places possible that conditions allow. Other marine creatures
that we see on nearly all San Juan Islands kayaking trips are Dall's porpoise, harbor
porpoise, harbor seals, river otters, mink, bald eagles, and amazingly
colorful tidepool communities.
Our web
site will help you decide which San Juan Islands kayaking tour is best for you.
